The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a second challenge to the presidency of Barack Obama, announcing today it denied an application for a stay or an injunction in a case from Connecticut. The case brought by Cort Wrotnowski had been distributed for review by the court and apparently was considered during a conference of the justices Friday. It met the same fate as an earlier case brought by Leo Donofrio and essentially challenged Obama on the same issue: allegations that dual citizenship based on a father who was a British subject and a mother who was an American minor disqualified...

En garde, Sen. Gordon Smith! White House press secretary Tony Snow may challenge you to a duel. Responding to a charge by Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., that the U.S. handling of the war in Iraq has been "criminal" and "absurd," Snow told reporters that it was the killing of U.S. soldiers, not the conduct of the war itself, that was "immoral," according to Editor & Publisher. Asked by a reporter during a White House press briefing if he was just going to "blow it off" in dealing with Smith's charge that the president's policy may be criminal and immoral, by...

WILLCOX Some soldiers of the 269th Signal Company jumped from Fort Huachuca to this agriculture community in northeastern Cochise County Tuesday. In the military, jumping is the movement of a unit from one place to another, like what is happening the next couple of weeks with the 11th Signal Brigade during Huachuca Thunder 2006, an exercise to validate the brigades communications equipment. But Mondays jump for a small group of the 269th also was to show appreciation to students at the Willcox school system, especially the middle school students. The students became pen pals with one of the 269ths...

Over the past few days, Infinite Loop has been following developments which seemed to indicate that a workable solution for installing Windows XP on Apple's Intel-based computers had been developed. Reactions were, at first, mixed. Most people, jaded by months of fakery on just about every hot Apple rumor imaginable, dismissed the solution out of hand, but those who had been following the progress of the author of this particular hack were fairly confident that he had sealed the deal. For those unaware, a website titled Windows XP on Mac has been collecting a pool of donations for anyone who...

Expurgated portions of Iraq's December 7 report to the UN Security Council show that German firms made up the bulk of suppliers for Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs. What's galling is that German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and his minions have long known the facts, German intelligence services know them and have loads of information on what Saddam Hussein is hiding, and Schroeder nonetheless plays holier than thou to an easily manipulated, pacifist-inclined domestic audience. If it's not the height of hypocrisy and opportunism, Schroeder's preemptive "no war. period" stance on Iraq and insistence on a "German Way" (Deutscher Weg)...
