| Because BBM, which rioters are using to communicate, is not traceable by cops, PM David Lammy says its one of reasons why unsophisticated criminals are outfoxing an otherwise sophisticated police force. LONDON What, you might wonder, is the modern urban guerillas rioting weapon of choice? A machete? You might think so. But for most of the youngsters looting and ransacking the streets of London for the past three nights, cement blocks, iron bars and supermarket trolleys seemed to do the job of smashing in shop windows just as well. A balaclava? Perhaps. Per the multiple videos posted on Twitter... |

Environmental businessman Nick Loeb is considering running for Floridas seat in the United States Senate in 2012. And the glamorous Columbian actress and model has vowed to do whatever she can to back him if he decides to throw his hat in the ring. She told People magazine: Of course I will help him, why... |
Paul Krugman and the last gasp of Americas liberal elites

| Is this the last gasp from Americas liberal elites before the November mid-terms on Tuesday? This is what economist Paul Krugman has to say in The New York Times today, predicting political chaos, with the hysterical warning if the elections go as expected next week, heres my advice: Be afraid. Be very afraid. This is going to be terrible. In fact, future historians will probably look back at the 2010 election as a catastrophe for America, one that condemned the nation to years of political chaos and economic weakness. Krugman then goes on to blame George W. Bush for... |

Built in just 37 months to coincide with New Delhi's hosting of the Commonwealth Games in October, the terminal sprawls over four square kilometres (1.5 square miles) and boasts 97 automated walkways and 78 aerobridges. | "A work of art, architecture, whatever it is, needs time to finally make a judgement as to whether it's right or not," says I.M. Pei in First Person Singular (1997), Peter Rosen's fine documentary about the architect. It is a cruel irony that after 30 years, what many consider Pei's greatest work, the East Building (right) of the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., has gone seriously wrong. |

Modern train service slowed by freight

| High speed rail is a glamorous idea -- it's fun to imagine a train streaking through the cornfields from Chicago to St. Louis in four hours. Less glamorous are some of the fixes that need to be made to Chicago's notoriously slow freight rail system. Talk about projects like "signalize interlocking" and "grade separation," and eyes glaze over. But the promise of faster passenger rail is inextricably linked to the down-and-dirty business of freight. To make passenger and commuter trains move faster, you have to get the boxcars out of the way. And to do that, there needs to be... |

| The Obamas taste in art is as broad as abstract canvases by Josef Albers, American Indian scenes by George Catlin and paintings by little-known figures like Alma Thomas, the African-American Expressionist painter. Works by those artists were among some 45 pieces that the first couple borrowed from several Washington museums to decorate their private White House residence and the West and East Wings, the White House press office announced on Tuesday. |

"But there's a threshold problem for our new president. Americans don't feel free to reach inside themselves and make a difference. The growth of litigation and regulation has injected a paralyzing uncertainty into everyday choices." | Former Airborne Evan Sayet explains how the modern liberal thinks at the Heritage Foundation. Sayet is a Conservative Homorist/Pundit. This video is informative and funny at times. Sayet states, "frankly, if it was just stupidity, they would be right more often. That was the expression, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Evan a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again." He says a lot more meaningful and insightful things, but that one kind of tickled me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaE98w1KZ-c |

Large, expensive homes surround the green, grassy mound in an arrangement akin to a prehistoric village. In a sense, that is exactly what the mound represents. It is the five-acre site of the Candies Creek Village Archaeological Preserve owned by the Archaeological Conservancy. It contains the remains of houses, human burials and pit features. Developer Jim Sharp sold the site to the Conservancy in 2001... |

Studies of the bones and teeth of cave bears, and especially the nitrogen isotopes in their bone protein, have concluded that they were largely vegetarian. (Credit: Academia Romana / Erik Trinkaus) ScienceDaily (Jan. 9, 2008) Rather than being gentle giants, new research reveals that Pleistocene cave bears ate both plants and animals and competed for food with the other contemporary large carnivores of the time: hyaenas, lions, wolves, and our own human ancestors. The painting resembles the work of Paul Klee The two square-metre painting, in red, black and white, was found at the Neolithic settlement of Djade al-Mughara on the Euphrates, northeast of the city of Aleppo. "It looks like a modernist painting," said Eric Coqueugniot, the team leader. "Some of those who saw it have... |

Translation of an article from the ever excellent kreuz.net. There are mis-implementations here and there. The Mainz bishop, Karl, Cardinal Lehmann has recently remarked on the beauty of the new Mass. A reason for this recent praise was the German language manifesto for the readmitance of the old Rite. | Modern Humans, Neanderthals May Have Interbred By E.J. Mundell HealthDay Reporter Mon Oct 30, 5:03 PM ET MONDAY, Oct. 30 (HealthDay News) -- There may be a little Neanderthal in all of us. That's the conclusion of anthropologists who have re-examined 30,000-year-old fossilized bones from a Romanian cave -- bones that languished in a drawer since the 1950s. According to the researchers, these early Homo sapien bones show anatomical features that could only have arisen if the adult female in question had Neanderthal ancestors as part of her lineage. The findings may answer nagging questions: Did modern humans and Neanderthals... |
